Can you delete browsing history on a router?
How to Delete Browsing History from a Router
Every time you connect to the internet, your router keeps a record of your browsing activity. This data can include the websites you visit, the time you spend on each site, and even the search terms you enter. While this information can be useful for troubleshooting purposes, it can also be a privacy concern.
If you’re concerned about your privacy, you may want to delete your browsing history from your router. Here’s how to do it:
- Step 1: Log in to your router’s admin panel.
The admin panel is a web interface that allows you to manage your router’s settings. To log in, open a web browser and enter the router’s IP address into the address bar. The IP address is usually printed on the bottom or back of the router.
Once you’ve entered the IP address, you’ll be prompted to enter the router’s username and password. The default login credentials are often printed on the router. If you’ve changed the default login credentials, enter the username and password you created.
- Step 2: Locate the logs section.
Once you’re logged in to the router’s admin panel, locate the logs section. The logs section is typically labeled “System Logs” or something similar.
- Step 3: Clear the logs.
In the logs section, you’ll see a list of all the browsing activity that has been recorded by the router. To clear the logs, click the “Clear Logs” button.
Once you’ve clicked the “Clear Logs” button, the router will erase all of the browsing history.
Tips:
- If you’re using a public Wi-Fi network, it’s a good idea to clear your browsing history after each session. This will prevent other people from accessing your browsing data.
- You can also disable logging on your router. This will prevent the router from recording your browsing history. However, it’s important to note that disabling logging may affect the router’s ability to troubleshoot problems.
