Short airport layovers don’t have to mean sleepless boredom. Transit hotels offer hourly or overnight stays right in the airport, ideal for catching up on rest. Some travelers use them simply as a convenient place to recharge while others, like me, use it as a home base when planning an adventure outside of the terminal.

I recently had a 12-hour layover in Singapore’s Changi Airport, one of the best airports in the world. I was traveling from Los Angeles to Mumbai, India. I had originally planned on sleeping in the airport, but I was worried about being too uncomfortable and not getting enough rest for my next flight.

So, I decided to check out the transit hotels at Changi. I was pleasantly surprised to find that there were several options to choose from, ranging from budget-friendly to luxurious. I ended up booking a room at the Aerotel Transit Hotel, which was located right in the airport terminal.

The room was small but comfortable, and it had everything I needed for a good night’s sleep. There was a bed, a desk, a TV, and a private bathroom. I was also able to access the hotel’s Wi-Fi, which was a nice bonus.

I ended up sleeping for about 8 hours, and I woke up feeling refreshed and ready for my next flight. I was so glad that I had decided to book a hotel room. It was definitely worth the money, and it made my long layover much more enjoyable.
