Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport (BLR) has undergone a significant operational change, effectively designating Terminal 2 as the exclusive hub for international flights, starting September 12, 2023. This move marks a complete restructuring of flight operations at the airport, separating international arrivals and departures from their domestic counterparts.

Previously, both international and domestic flights operated from Terminal 1, but the airport authority, Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), has now reallocated all international traffic to Terminal 2. This change is a result of a strategic decision, one facet of which involved BIAL’s 2019 initiative to directly manage the lounges within Terminal 1. This move appears to have facilitated the transition to a streamlined system, allowing for a more efficient and specialized handling of international passengers.

The shift to dedicated terminals is likely intended to improve the passenger experience for international travelers by providing more focused resources and streamlined procedures.
