When departing from Vietnam, all international travelers are required to pay an international departure tax at the airport. This fee is not included in the flight ticket and varies depending on the departure city.

Departure Tax Amounts

  • Ho Chi Minh City (Tan Son Nhat International Airport): USD 12
  • Hanoi (Noi Bai International Airport): USD 14

Payment Method

The departure tax must be paid in cash (Vietnamese Dong or US Dollars) at designated counters in the airport departure hall. Payment by credit card is not typically accepted.

Exemptions

The following individuals are exempt from paying the departure tax:

  • Children under 2 years old
  • Diplomats and accredited consular officials
  • Transit passengers who do not leave the airport
  • Passengers with a valid exemption certificate from the Immigration Department
