Visa-Free Travel to the United States
Individuals from certain countries are eligible to travel to the United States without obtaining a visa. This visa-free travel program, known as the Visa Waiver Program (VWP), allows citizens of these countries to enter the United States for short-term stays for purposes of tourism, business, or transit.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for visa-free travel under the VWP, individuals must meet the following requirements:
- Be a citizen of one of the participating countries
- Possess a valid passport with a validity of at least six months beyond the intended period of stay
- Have a return or onward ticket for travel outside the United States
- Intend to stay in the United States for less than 90 days
Ineligibility
Individuals who are not eligible for visa-free travel include those who:
- Intend to study or work in the United States
- Intend to remain in the United States for more than 90 days
- Have been deemed inadmissible to the United States under U.S. immigration law
Duration of Stay
Eligible individuals may stay in the United States for up to 90 days per entry under the VWP. Extensions of stay are not permitted.

It’s important to note that individuals who have traveled to or are citizens of Iraq, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Syria, Yemen, or Libya after March 1, 2011, may not be eligible for visa-free travel under the VWP.
