How to Check the Status of Your Nonimmigrant Visa Application

If you have applied for a nonimmigrant visa, such as a tourist visa, student visa, or work visa, you can check the status of your application online.

To do so, visit the Consular Electronic Application Center (CEAC) website. On the launch page, you will see a section titled “Check My Visa Application Status.”

Enter the following information in the fields provided:

  • Confirmation number: This is the number that you were given when you completed your visa application.
  • Last name: Enter your last name as it appears on your visa application.
  • Birth date: Enter your date of birth in the format DD/MM/YYYY.

Click on the “Check Status” button.

You will then see a page with information about the status of your visa application. This information may include:

  • The date your application was received
  • The current status of your application
  • Any additional information that is required from you

If your application has been approved, you will be able to download your visa from the CEAC website.

If you have any questions about the status of your visa application, you can contact the U.S. embassy or consulate that is processing your application.

Note: Only cases from within the last year are searchable on the CEAC website. If you applied for a visa more than a year ago, you will need to contact the U.S. embassy or consulate directly to inquire about the status of your application.
