Tram Me Village – An Isolated Village In Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park

Tram Me Village is located on the banks of the Son River, in Son Trach Commune, Bo Trach District, Quang Binh Province, a peaceful village in Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park Heritage.

The whole village of Tram Me has 1200 people in 258 households, especially 70% of the households in the village are indigent, the village is located independently in front of Phong Nha Cave, which is accessible to see when you take a boat to visit the cave.

Tram Me is a poverty-stricken village in Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province. Due to the difficult terrain of the road, the lives of the people here are laborious, and the daily food is mainly self-sufficient.

Tram Me hamlet is a quite famous tourist destination in recent years, chosen by many teenagers in their Phong Nha travel itinerary, representing the image of a riverside village.

Tram Me Village is well-known as one of the leading lonely villages in Vietnam, while the rainy season comes, all traffic routes in and out of the village are separated. Therefore, the village has only one road to connect with the outside via the suspension bridge.

Tram Me suspension bridge in the torrential rainy season, the river level rises with torent whirlpools, so few people dare to walk around on the bridge, stuck between a rock and a hard place, finally the boat across the river is still a means of transport which help people travel and provide food and drinks.

When you come here, you only see small roads, there are almost no cars here, the primary means of transport are motorbikes and bicycles, and the only way to the village by car is on Highway 16  through Da Lon village, about an 8km distance.

The crowdest area in Tram Me Village is the river watering place at the Song Son junction, go to the small riverside road you will encounter Tram Me wharf.

This unique road along the river is said to be the most poetic in Phong Nha, connecting Tram Me Village with the outside.

If you have a lot of time to visit the village, you can go straight along Road 20, to the location of the old Nguyen Van Troi ferry wharf, and you will see the horizontal wharf.

This is the pier of an old couple, who take students across the river every day to go to school and help people here travel more quickly, so far quite a few tourists know about this pier.

The wharf has been in operation for more than 10 years, regardless of day or night, rain or shine, or wind and storm, the ferry still crosses the river even if there are only a few tourists, through the ferry, you will witness thousands of visitors visiting the Phong Nha Cave.

In the summer, the boat crosses the river easily on the smooth water, the river in this position is about 100m wide, so it flows very fast in the flood season, once crossing the river in the peak tourist season in Quang Binh, it is often difficult because of the boats. Upstream tourism takes visitors to visit Phong Nha Cave.

Each boat trip to the river needs two people standing at the two ends to drive the boat, there is no motor, only manual rowing, so people are very hard, the price for locals here is 2,000 VND / turn for motorbikes and 3,000 VND / unit for a bike.

The wharf in Tram Me Village is only for tourists who want to visit and roam in the village, it is not allowed to visit Phong Nha Cave from this location.

Visiting this wharf you will see the beginning of a branch of the river hidden in a cave, pouring water all year round on the Son River, accreting alluvium to water the fields.

Therefore, the crops grown on fertile soil in Tram Me village are easy to grow, greening the village, and adding to the peaceful and poetic beauty of the countryside.
